Miss Quincy and the Showdown are releasing a brand new single on July 13. “Remind Me of Myself”, the new song from the Vancouver-based bluesy rock n’ roll trio, brings Quincy’s songwriting and powerhouse vocals to the forefront, shining brightly in the timeless space between vintage soul and cutting edge pop. Following up the band’s critically acclaimed 2014 release Roadside Recovery, the single release comes at a busy time for the group, who after spending the winter in Toronto, Los Angeles and Melbourne, are inspired to hit the long roads of the Canadian tour trail with new tunes and an amped up show. Late nights, badass grooves and festival stages. This is not your dad’s blues.
This past January and February the band lived temporarily in Los Angeles, soaking up the sun and culture of Hollywood and the Sunset Strip. The video was shot during the trip, using locations such as the iconic LA River and the Venice Beach boardwalk, and the happy participation of the local colourful characters. The video was entirely shot, directed and edited by the band and creative collaborators Luvia Petersen and Aurora Jane, completing a video that’s more authentically “Quincy” while showcasing the varied skills and talents of the band itself. The result is a softer filter on the gritty rock ‘n roll the band is known for.
Since the release of Roadside Recovery in 2014, Miss Quincy and the Showdown have not slowed down. In addition to touring Canada and Europe for it’s release, Miss Quincy also participated as a Top 12 finalist in the PEAK Performance Project BC in 2014. The band released music videos for the singles Talkin’ Trash and Bad Love in late 2014, and released a further music video for the single Damn You in 2015, directed by Vancouver actor and Continuum alumni Luvia Petersen. Miss Quincy and the Showdown also toured throughout Australia in 2015 and 2016, before returning home to hit the summer festival highway.
Playing and touring with The Showdown is just one creative outlet for Quincy, her other project My Peace River, is an artistic collaboration created to bring awareness to the endangered Peace Region where she was born and raised. An EP of songs recorded live on the banks of the Peace River will be released in July 2016 along with a mini documentary series about the project.
